DENTAL OFFICE COMPUTERIZED BILLING SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS - PROJECT MANAGEMENT

THE PROJECT

This project was a part of my information technology project management course.  There were four projects and each student was required to be the project manager or assistant project manager during one phase of developing each project.

This project was for a dentist office that wanted to automate their billing and checkout processes.  The billing had to calculated for all patients that were uninsured.  So, the system had to keep track of each patients' insurance status as well as what procedures they had performed.

This portion of this particular project is the initial requirements phase.  This phase include creating the use cases and corresponding scenarios, the CROC cards, data dictionary, sequence diagrams, and data flow diagrams for this system.

MY ROLE

For the requirements phase of the dental office billing system project, I acted as the project manager.  This meant that I had to determine the tasks to be completed, assign those tasks, and schedule team members to complete those tasks.  I created a Gantt chart and schedule in Microsoft Project.  One of my tasks was to perform a functional point analysis.  As the project manager I had to keep the project and team members on track as well as oversee the completion of each members' tasks.  I also had to create digital versions of the written documents my team came up with during work sessions.  Lastly, I had to write a deliverable for the requirements phase and create a presentation that would be passed onto the project manager of the design phase.  At the end of the phase, the assistant project manager and I conducted evaluations of each team member.
